Taking our child in the bathroom is one of the most scrupulous tasks. Accidents could happen if we are less attentive to the details. Basically, anything that could be tasted or swallowed must be kept hidden like hair dyes, shampoos, soaps, mouthwash and toothpaste. Place them on your countertop or better yet, install wall cabinets or attach your bathroom organized onto the wall to prevent your children from possibly playing with these bathroom essentials.

Keep sharp objects such as razors, scissors and nail clippers locked in a cabinet. Medicines and cosmetics must be placed high enough out of children’s reach.

Get rid of molds and mildews

Mold sits in moist areas. As adults, we often do not notice it, but our child has a closer view of the ground. They can easily spot molds. More so, it could grow on bath stuffs. If the child swallowed their hands with molds, he could suffer from tummy sores, vomiting and fever.

Be mindful on corners, sinks and bathtub when cleaning. Keep the space well ventilated. You could have timber venetians instead of curtains for your windows inside bathrooms to allow fresh air and sunlight to enter. Hang towels to keep it dry and replace bath mats often.

Unplug electric appliances after use

Electric shavers and curling irons could burn skins, or worse, it could cause electric shock when it falls into the water. Never ever leave them unattended. Unplug them and put them away after using. You can hang them on hooks attached to the wall or locked them inside high cabinets or locked drawers.

Test the water temperature first

Set the hot water not higher than 48 degrees C. Tap the cold water first when filling the tub. The water must be lukewarm. Never attempt to leave your kids while bathing because they might accidentally reach for something to worse, turn the water temperature to high without your knowledge.

Obviously, it would only take seconds to burn the child’s skin and we don’t want that to happen. So test the water before placing the child in the bathtub.

Always keep the floor dry

Bathroom floors are slippery. Always keep it dry and use non-slip mats. A rubber mat is best when drying off the uncoordinated child. Wipe the child’s feet as well when you take him out of the tub to prevent falls. You could also elevate your shower areas to prevent water from spilling onto your bathroom floors.

Take off possible steps and ladders

Children are always curious, finding objects that they can play with. They could use chairs and washing hampers for climbing. Better remove all items that could aid them to climb. It would also be safer if you could place safety gates onto your bathroom doors to prevent children from entering the area.

Every corner of our house is a playground for our kids. And we cannot watch them all the time. The best way is to keep them safe with all the precautionary measures we could probably think of. Keeping an eye on them, at all times may not be possible, but having a guardian to look after them, most of the time especially during bathing is very important.

Consider a decorative piece that grabs a statement. It can be a big vase or statue placed at the corner of your living area or a floor lamp that radiates a different kind of glow at night.

A small upside down planting system significantly adds charm to the foyer. You can rig it up in any part of your home. It has a lock disk that covers up the soil and prevents it from falling.

Focus on the home accessories in the atrium area. Torch wall sconce could shine an artwork in the hallway. But if you don’t have an art piece, crystal wall sconces will compromise it. Chandeliers, in small and big spaces can create a big statement for living areas, dining rooms and your library at home. You can even have one installed at your stairs to remove the dull vibe in these areas.

LED drawer lights provide style and functionality. Those tiny strips will light once you open the drawer and automatically turn off as you close it are also extra lighting features you can add to illuminate your homes.

The key is to decorate your home according to your own personal style. Your home is a reflection of your character. Make it your dream place.

Home Decorating Tips for a Spooky Halloween Season

Halloween is one of the most anticipated and exciting celebrations everyone looks forward to every year. And since October has arrived, that means that it is time to start decorating and preparing our homes and Halloween costumes for this year’s Halloween.

Below are some of the tips you should consider when decorating your homes for Halloween this year.

  1.    Do not compromise safety over style (of your decorations)

It would really scare the hell out of your neighbors if you’ll turn off all the lights in your front lawn and stick with the flickering electric lights inside your home. However, it is not wise to keep your front lawns, window areas, and door entries dark. Robbers might take advantage of this so it is still important to keep areas at night lighted, especially those areas where access and entry is possible. However, you can still be creative and change your lights to black lights or orange lights for a change to stay in tune with this year’s Halloween décor.

  1.    Consider your kids before going all out in creating a scary home for the Halloween

Before turning your home into a gory scene that will turn your stomachs inside out, consider the age and the tolerance of your kids at home when it comes to scary stuff. Be sure that the decorations that you’ll put up inside and outside your home will not bring several days of nightmare for your children. Go for a more friendly Halloween decoration if you have little kids at home who may get too scared especially during the night.

  1.    Lawn decorations should be lighted

It would be better if you’ll get lighted decorations for your lawn. People will see it better and you’ll avoid tripping accidents in your front lawn as well. Better use electric candles rather than real ones to avoid possible fires as well. Do not overcrowd your front lawn with décor as well. It would be difficult to maintain and would consume too much time to put up and to put down after.

  1.    Keep pathways and driveways clear and free from décor

Kids might end up running once you surprise them with your “Scream”-inspired mask when they come knocking at your front door for treats. To save them from possible accidents, make sure that their path is clear when they start running in horror away from your home.

  1.    Keep candles away from your curtains

It would really be cool to have creepy looking candles lighted indoors for that mysterious shadowy effect from behind your window. However, fire might be caught in your curtains and pelmets Melbourne, thus having electrical ones would be better for safety purposes most especially with kids staying inside your home.

Halloween decorating can be really fun and memorable for the whole family. However, safety at home should always be your first priority even when decorating for a spooky and scary Halloween party for your homes.
